Job Overview
TxDOT’s Human Resources Division is seeking an HR Generalist II for the HRD Division in Bryan, Texas, to support employees and leadership with benefits, hiring, onboarding, and employee relations.
Compensation
Minimum Salary: $57,614.00 – Maximum Salary: $72,000.00 (Yearly, FLSA Exempt). Work location: Bryan District Headquarters, 2591 North Earl Rudder Freeway, Bryan, TX 77803. Travel: Yes, 25% of the time. Shift: Day, 40‑hour. Location flexibility: Onsite.
Responsibilities
Coordinate the hiring program, manage job openings, local recruitment events, screen applications, and process new hires.
Enter and maintain HR data using PeopleSoft.
Conduct new employee orientation, employee forums, annual enrollment, and wellness initiatives.
Consult and coordinate with management and governmental agencies on interpretation of HR policies, rules, regulations, and laws.
Assist employees with benefits, leave, and employee relations inquiries.
Provide guidance on sensitive issues such as substance abuse and employee discipline.
Handle medical‑related employee needs, including FMLA and ADA.
Offer HR support during adverse weather response events.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Experience
Minimum 1 year of HR‑related experience (full‑time or prorated part‑time). Graduate‑level education may substitute one year per year.
Valid driver’s license (state vehicle required).
Preferred Qualifications
Human Resources Certification – PHR/SPHR or SHRM‑CP/SHRM‑SCP.
Experience in employee engagement.
Strong organizational and time‑management skills.
Knowledge & Skills
Human resources management policies and practices.
Federal and state laws, regulations, and guidelines governing HR.
Human resources management and information systems.
Effective public relations and communication with internal and external stakeholders.
Meeting deadlines and organizing work assignments.
Preparing and maintaining confidential records and reports.
Proficiency with computers and HR applications.
Ability to communicate effectively with employees at all levels.
