
Security Investigator

Overview
Do you want to join a team that's changing the world? We're looking for a strong background as a Security Investigator to support the protection of personnel, assets, and operations at Panasonic Energy facilities in De Soto, Kansas.
Responsibilities
Conduct security investigations related to incidents, policy violations, threats, or losses, delivering professionally written investigative reports.
Utilize video management systems, access control platforms, intrusion detection systems, and investigative tools to gather, analyze, and preserve evidence.
Perform in-person interviews with witnesses, complainants, and persons of interest using formal interview techniques.
Investigate internal and external fraud incidents, supporting evidence collection in coordination with appropriate partners.
Support intelligence gathering efforts by monitoring relevant information sources to identify potential threats or security risks.
Analyze investigative data and security trends to identify recurring issues and recommend risk mitigation strategies.
Maintain and review statistical data related to security incidents and investigations to support preventive action.
Stay current on investigative standards, best practices, technologies, and emerging security risks.
Support continuous improvement of investigative processes, reporting quality, and intelligence‑sharing practices.
Provide subject‑matter support to Security Management and site partners related to investigations and security risk awareness.
Assist with crime prevention and physical security programs by contributing investigative insights and risk assessments.
Support emergency planning and response readiness through investigative preparedness and post‑incident analysis.
Report investigative findings and recommendations to Security Management and Human Resources Business Partners in a timely manner.
Coordinate with Safety, Facilities, Production, and Human Resources teams on security‑related matters and mitigation actions.
Consult with local law enforcement or external authorities as needed in support of investigations.
Communicate investigative outcomes clearly and professionally to leadership and relevant stakeholders.
Conduct investigations in compliance with company policies, ethical standards, and applicable laws and regulations.
Ensure proper handling, documentation, and confidentiality of sensitive investigative information.
Support adherence to safety and site requirements, including use of required PPE during investigative activities.
Travel and PPE Requirements
Limited local travel may be required to support nearby company facilities; the majority of work will be based at the primary manufacturing site.
PPE may include a full Tyvek suit, safety shoes, gloves, safety glasses, face mask, bump cap, and a full hazmat suit that includes a respirator.
Qualifications
Education & Certifications
High School Diploma or GED.
Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice, Security Management, Business, or a related field.
Preferred: Relevant security or investigative certifications (e.g., CFI, CFE, CPP, Wicklander‑Zulawski interview training, or similar).
Essential Qualifications
2+ years of investigative experience in a corporate, manufacturing, or similar environment.
Experience using access control systems, intrusion detection systems, and video surveillance platforms.
Formal interview training and demonstrated ability to conduct structured interviews.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including professional report writing.
Ability to manage multiple investigations, prioritize competing demands, meet deadlines, and support investigations during non‑standard hours as required.
Ability to communicate effectively with senior business leadership.
Must have working‑level knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing, and speaking English.
Alignment to Panasonic’s seven core principles.
Preferred Qualifications
4+ years of investigative experience in a manufacturing, corporate, or similar environment.
Prior law enforcement, military police, or corporate security experience.
Project management experience related to security initiatives or investigations.
Experience conducting investigations in manufacturing, industrial, or regulated environments.
Experience using investigative case management, reporting, or incident tracking systems.
Exposure to fraud, ethics, or policy‑related investigations.
Physical Demands
Physical activities: sit 40%, walk 30%, stand 30%. Lifting and carrying: up to 10 lbs. frequent; up to 20 lbs. occasional; up to 35 lbs. rare; team‑lift only (over 35 lbs.) rare.
