Regulatory Data Analyst – Utility Transformation (Contract)
Pay Rate: $69.00 (W-2)
Project Location: Minneapolis, MN (Hybrid Tues‑Thurs Onsite)
Contract Duration: 12‑Months
Position Summary
The Regulatory Data Analyst (Contract) supports a high‑visibility regulatory transformation initiative by delivering accurate, timely, and well‑validated data in response to formal discovery requests from state regulatory commissions. This role plays a critical part in ensuring compliance by partnering with cross‑functional teams to analyze and present complex utility data related to customer accounts, billing, credit, and usage.
This position works across multiple program “towers” and collaborates closely with Compliance Analysts and regulatory stakeholders to support legal and regulatory reporting requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Respond to regulatory discovery requests by extracting, analyzing, and validating data from multiple systems
Compile datasets related to customer accounts, billing, credit inquiries, and energy usage
Perform data validation and quality assurance to ensure accuracy and completeness
Partner with Compliance Analysts to support regulatory and legal responses
Prepare clear, structured data outputs for use in formal filings and responses
Collaborate with internal regulatory teams, case specialists, and project stakeholders
Support reporting and dashboard development (as needed) using tools such as Power BI
Typical Day
Receive and prioritize incoming discovery requests from regulatory teams
Pull and consolidate data from various internal systems
Validate datasets and investigate discrepancies
Work with compliance and regulatory partners to align on response requirements
Prepare data deliverables for legal and regulatory submissions
Collaborate with cross‑functional team members across the transformation program
Team & Work Environment
Part of a large, cross‑functional transformation initiative
Works across multiple program teams (“towers”)
Key collaborators include:
Compliance Analysts
Regulatory and legal teams
Case specialists and operating company managers
Project leadership
Fast‑paced, highly collaborative environment with strong coordination between technical and business teams
Work Schedule
Full‑time (40 hours/week)
Hybrid schedule:
Onsite: Tuesday–Thursday
Remote: Monday & Friday
Office locations:
Minneapolis, MN (preferred – 414 building)
Denver, CO (alternative)
Required Qualifications
Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, large dataset handling)
Experience with data analysis, validation, and quality assurance
Familiarity with Power BI or similar BI/reporting tools
Experience working with enterprise systems (e.g., Salesforce or similar platforms)
Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
Preferred Qualifications
7+ years of experience in data analytics or reporting roles
Experience supporting large‑scale transformation initiatives
Background in utility, energy, or regulated industries
Experience with regulatory reporting or compliance‑related data work
Ability to translate data into clear, actionable insights
