Civil Science is seeking a driven and experienced Public Works Project Manager to support and grow our public works practice in Utah.
This is more than a traditional project management role — it’s an opportunity to play a key role in a growing market. You’ll lead meaningful municipal infrastructure projects that directly impact the communities we serve, while building strong relationships with local agencies and stakeholders.
We’re looking for a licensed engineer who thrives in a client‑facing role — someone who takes ownership of project delivery, leads collaborative teams, and enjoys guiding projects from concept through completion. You’ll step into an active backlog of work with immediate opportunities to contribute and help expand our presence across Idaho.
At Civil Science, you won’t just contribute — you’ll have a stake in what we’re building. As a 100% employee‑owned company, our culture is rooted in accountability, collaboration, and long‑term thinking, giving you the opportunity to grow your career while helping shape the future of our Utah operations.
What You’ll Get to Do
Serve as a primary client contact for public works projects across Utah
Manage scope, schedule, and budget for multiple active municipal projects
Lead and coordinate multidisciplinary project teams
Deliver high‑quality infrastructure projects for city, county, and state agencies
Support business development efforts, including proposals and client relationship growth
Collaborate with leadership to expand backlog and strengthen market presence
Mentor junior staff and contribute to team development
Ensure projects meet quality, risk, and compliance standards
What We’re Looking For
Strong project management and organizational skills
Ability to build and maintain client relationships
Experience working with public agency clients
Ability to lead teams and drive accountability
Strong communication and problem‑solving skills
Interest in contributing to a growing regional market
What Qualifications You’ll Need
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering required
Professional Engineer (PE) license required
8+ years of experience in public works or municipal infrastructure projects
Experience with city, county, or DOT clients
Proficiency in Adobe Acrobat, Bluebeam, and Civil 3D
Experience delivering transportation and public works infrastructure projects
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a client‑facing environment
Ability to travel and meet client needs throughout Utah and potentially in surrounding states
Must be able to sit for prolonged periods while working on a computer; lift up to 30 pounds; work on active construction sites with uneven terrain, varying weather conditions, and moderate to high noise levels; and stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl as required.
What Will Help You Stand Out
Experience working with Utah municipalities or local agencies
Business development or proposal support experience
Experience mentoring or supporting junior staff
Familiarity with regional infrastructure needs and standards
