This role is categorized as onsite. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to the Toledo, Ohio plant on a full-time basis. Must be willing to work weekends.

The Role
Work is technical in nature with decisions made within the limits of general practices, policies, and standards. Work is performed in a manufacturing plant where creativity and initiative are exercised as well as independent judgment. Work involves the need to troubleshoot issues and support problem solving practices. Ability to analyze data to support cost reductions and tool life improvements. Ability to work autonomously with occasional guidance from supervision is a must. Must have the ability to work across multiple functions, training others, and assign work to a small group of employees. As well as playing a key role as the tooling and gaging point of contact, the successful candidate will be responsible for troubleshooting equipment and implementing permanent corrective solutions in a manufacturing department. May involve training others and assigning work to a small group of employees.
What You'll Do
Support project tool approvals
Supports continuous improvement projects
Approval of cutting tools, and process documentation
Diagnose, analyze, and document emergent tooling issues
Make decisions on current or future tooling/machining strategies
Oversee Tool Commodity Management for Production Manufacturing
Support Maximo for tool inventory management
Financial forecasting + planning
Creation of Engineering sufficiency plans as required
HR Related activities as it relates to 3rd party employees
Coaching and mentoring of 3rd party tooling suppliers
Safety contract management of 3rd party including pre-task planning and safety observation tours
Ensure supply base adheres to GM standards and quality and manufacturing processes are enabled
Design, analyze and implement product or machinery designs for best method for manufacturing processes
Propose and evaluate the processes for equipment in assigned area
Direct the design, development, and/or improvement of manufacturing processes for assigned area
Regular contact with others outside the work group including leading cross-functional teams
Provide direction to small group of technical employees
Responsible to evaluate or monitorexpenditures for processes and/or equipment
Strong technical knowledge and ability in process engineering disciplines
Strong knowledge and ability to implement GMS principles
Your Skills and Abilities (Required Qualifications)
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, manufacturing engineering, or equivalent experience
Demonstrated high level of analytical ability including experience with structured technical problem; can include RedX or Design for Six Sigma methods.
Work in a Team Environment to understand Product, Processes, and Failure Modes
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple and difficult projects and assignments with high level of autonomy and accountability for results
Demonstrates initiative by reaching beyond work assigned to improve output and/or help others
Proven ability in managing large and complex projects
Experience in troubleshooting production equipment

Experience with gear and aluminum machining
