
Civil / Water Resources Engineer

Tetra Tech invites you to consider a rewarding opportunity as a Civil / Water Resources Engineer with expertise in hydrological and hydraulic modeling and developing water resource‑related engineering designs.
Responsibilities
Proposal preparation and project management for hydrological and hydraulic modeling projects
Water resource related modeling and design, including stormwater conveyance, retention/detention, open channel flow, erosion, and sediment control
Preparation of reports and technical memorandums
Development of engineering cost estimates and bid specifications
Field data collection and site‑reconnaissance at governmental, commercial, and industrial sites
Other duties as assigned
Location: Flexible hybrid work setting with on‑site requirement; candidate must reside within 50 miles of one of the Boise, ID; Helena, MT; Salt Lake City, UT; or Spokane, WA offices.
Required Qualifications
B.S. in Civil, Environmental, or related field
10+ years of engineering experience
Professional Engineering (PE) license required
Experience in civil grading, drainage, hydrologic modeling, and hydraulic analysis
Proficiency in AutoCAD; ability to learn Civil 3D, HEC programs, and related software
Field data collection and construction management experience
Strong skills in Microsoft Excel and data analysis
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Valid driver’s license with clean driving record
Pre‑employment drug screening required in compliance with state regulations
Preferred Qualifications
M.S. in Civil Engineering or related discipline
Proficiency with HEC, SWMM, HY‑8, AutoCAD/Civil3D, and other civil design programs
Experience with ArcGIS, Global Mapper, and GoldSim
MSHA and/or OSHA HAZWOPER certification or ability to acquire
Physical Requirements
Travel and field oversight up to 25% of the time
Ability to work in varied weather conditions and environmental factors
Field work may require walking, bending, lifting, and extended periods of standing or sitting
Office work includes extended periods sitting or standing at a desk and using a computer
Additional Information
Full‑time, Monday through Friday, 40 hours per week; occasional extended hours may be required
Work will be performed in both office and field settings
Target salary range: $135,000 to $165,000 (varies with experience, qualifications, location, and other factors)
