AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. You will join a diverse engineering team to design the next‑generation electrical power distribution solutions that power millions of AWS customer experiences and support the world’s expanding cloud network.

Travel: This role requires up to 25% domestic or international travel to support global projects, manufacturing sites, and compliance testing activities.

Key job responsibilities

Work with internal partner teams to solicit customer input and define design requirements for product design.

Lead new product design, development, and qualification of critical electrical power distribution equipment for AWS data centers, including LV and MV switchgear, power distribution cabinets, and panels.

Develop Capex and Opex spending budgets taking into account development costs with vendors, prototyping needs, testing, and specialized tooling requirements.

Work with global suppliers and manufacturers to specify appropriate electrical equipment and components, ensuring tier 2‑3 supply chain resiliency.

Ensure compliance with UL, CSA, IEC and federal, state, and municipal requirements and building codes across different countries through appropriate levels of testing.

Validate design through prototype, pre‑production and first‑of‑kind builds, conducting DFx and value engineering analysis through each step and updating design and documentation.

Work with field engineering and commissioning teams to properly test and validate installation, operation, and performance of electrical products.

Provide support for manufacturing activities for new products on concurrent projects in multiple geographical locations.

Be a leader within the product development team as well as within internal and external teams that support the data center.

A day will be a dynamic blend of creative problem solving and technical excellence. You’ll engage in collaborative design sessions, prototype development, and cross‑functional communication, translating complex electrical engineering challenges into elegant, scalable solutions.

Basic Qualifications

4+ years of industrial or commercial engineering in mission‑critical facilities such as data centers, power generation, or oil and gas.

4+ years of commissioning experience.

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.

Experience researching new designs, technologies, and construction methods of data center equipment and facilities.

Preferred Qualifications

Professional Engineer License.

Experience carrying design concepts through exploration, development, and to deployment or mass production.

Experience reading, interpreting, and creating construction drawings, specifications, and submittal documents.

Able to interpret electric codes such as NEC, NFPA, UL891, UL508, UL1066, UL1558, ANSI C37, and other IEC codes.

Salary range: USA, TX, Austin – $116,800.00 – $160,000.00 USD annually.
USA, VA, Herndon – $116,800.00 – $160,000.00 USD annually.
USA, WA, Seattle – $116,800.00 – $160,000.00 USD annually.
