Internship Dates: May 2026-August 2026
Position Summary
This member of the ZooTampa Marketing Department will be responsible for assisting the communications team but may also support the brand, tourism marketing and other Zoo teams as needed.

Essential Functions (including but not limited to):

Assist with capturing and creating content for various social media platforms to include taking photos, editing videos, and writing copy.

Analyze and create reports of similar organizations’ social media presence and strategies.

Research new social techniques, platforms, and trends.

Research animal information to help assist with social media content.

Monitor Zoo mentions on various social media platforms.

Assists with video productions to include filming and editing content.

Assist other areas of the Marketing Department as needed.

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:

Junior or senior in Interactive Media, Video, Digital Arts and Media, Public Relations, Advertising with an interest in marketing.

Professional, motivated, self-starter

Excellent written and oral communication skills

Experience with photography and/or videography a plus

Working knowledge of the following social media platforms but not limited to: X, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube

Intermediate knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign), preferably two years of in‑school experience working with these programs.

Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office (mainly Word and Excel) and Google Sheets/Docs.

Able to adapt well and quickly to various other computer programs and technologies.

Creative with the ability to think outside the box.

Highly organized and able to manage multiple priorities at one time.

Has a passion for learning new skills and is self‑motivated.

Ability to work 2 days a week on‑site (required).

Other Requirements:

Conducts all activities in alignment with AZA standards and guidelines, all relevant laws and regulations, safety standards, and standards that ensure animal welfare.

Ability to work in extreme weather conditions typical to west central Florida (i.e., heat, rain, or cold).

Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.

Must be able to work in a variety of physical positions, including sitting, bending, standing, and walking.

If an internship offer is made, it is contingent on:

Candidates seeking academic credit must have arrangements agreed upon between the Zoo and their school before beginning the internship.

All offers are contingent on the successful completion of a criminal background screening and execution of a required hold harmless/liability release agreement.

Interns must have personal health insurance coverage for illness or injury (as volunteers and interns are not covered by the Zoo workers’ compensation program).
