Position Title
Protestant Music Director – 1099 contractor with Music Ministry International.
Scope of Responsibilities
Provides services as musician and Music Team Leader for the Protestant Worship Service (PWS).
Qualifications
Proficient in playing guitar and/or piano.
Can sight‑read music and/or play by ear.
Familiar with and able to play, and teach others to play, a variety of Contemporary and Praise & Worship church songs.
Can recruit volunteers and lead a team of 5‑12 individuals in performing the music.
Communicates written and orally in English.
Experience working in a military environment preferred.
Working knowledge of applicable Air Force Instructions and familiarity with the Chapel Tithes and Offerings Fund (CTOF).
Functions as a team member in a pluralistic environment working with chaplains, staff, directors, and volunteers.
Presents a neat appearance and dresses in a conservative and professional manner appropriate for an office and/or worship environment.
General Responsibilities
Provides music for the Protestant Worship Service at Chapel facilities.
Recruit, train, and lead the PWS music team/band.
Co‑ordinates all support requirements with the Contract Officer or designated representative.
Specific Responsibilities
Provides leadership for the music team at one PWS and one rehearsal per week.
Recruit and lead 5‑12 volunteers to comprise the PWS music team/band including audio/video support volunteers.
Incorporates a variety of instruments in the performance of church music (guitars, drums, bass guitar, tambourine, piano).
Chooses musical selections and provides printed lyrics for worship display.
Coordinates song selections in advance with worship service chaplain.
Complies with all information security and Christian Copyright License International (CCLI) requirements.
Arrives at Chapel at least one hour before worship service.
Returns music areas, instruments, microphones, music stands and books to their place after rehearsal/service.
Ensures all musical and electronic equipment is turned off after use.
Ensures facility needed is scheduled for the rehearsal/service.
Accountable for paying any Social Security payments, Federal or Local Income Taxes, and State Unemployment Insurance premiums for themselves and any employee or subcontractor.
Develops an annual calendar of events, CTOF budget, appropriated fund budget, and core religious education curriculum as appropriate in consultation with the Contract Officer.
Criminal History Background Checks
The Director will submit an application for a background check to the NCOIC, Chapel Operations according to Department of Defense Instruction.
