Duties Description

Performs all duties and functions of a Crime Analyst 1.

Uses established report writing standards to prepare comprehensive analysis reports used in criminal investigations or intelligence products, which may be entered into evidence during court proceedings.

Utilizes a variety of sophisticated technological tools to develop and integrate databases, applications, automations, and other technology solutions to aid crime analysts in their casework involving data and digital evidence.

Assists crime analysts and law enforcement investigative partners in digital investigations and other crime and intelligence analysis activities as needed.

Builds automated reports that pull live data, run analysis, and create products with maps and statistics to assist other crime analysts with investigative and prosecutorial documents and exhibits.

Evaluates, tests, and integrates third‑party software and hardware solutions.

Acts as shift leader as assigned.

Reviews and approves work products developed by Crime Analyst 1 where appropriate.

Performs the full range of supervisory responsibilities.

May be required to work nights or weekends to support operational needs.

Minimum Qualifications
Seven years of experience with crime analysis tools/systems or related analytical or computer systems experience. Required experience includes the development and integration of databases, applications, automations, and other technology solutions to aid in strategic, tactical, and administrative analysis systems to support resource deployment, crime mapping, pattern/trend identification; or experience researching, interpreting, developing, and integrating law enforcement or other complex data systems and GIS workflows.

Substitutions: An associate’s degree may substitute for two years of experience; a bachelor's degree may substitute for four years of experience; a master's or higher‑level degree may substitute for one additional year of experience; and a certificate in crime analysis or GIS may substitute for one year of experience.

Additional Comments
Up to 10% travel may be required for this position.

Appointment will be temporary pending finalization of non‑competitive classification. A permanent non‑competitive appointment will be made as soon as practicable.
