About the Role
The EMS Supervisor (Training) is responsible for the primary instruction, operational oversight, coordination, and quality assurance of EMT Training Courses offered by the University Hospital EMS Department. This role ensures that all training programs meet regulatory requirements, are staffed appropriately, and are delivered to the highest instructional standards. Key responsibilities include program scheduling, instructor coordination, facilities and resource management, compliance monitoring, and serving as the primary liaison to regulatory agencies overseeing EMT education in New Jersey.
Responsibilities
What You’ll Do
Serves as the primary instructor for EMT training courses within the University Hospital EMS Department
Provides operational oversight, coordination, and quality assurance for all EMT training programs
Ensures all EMS training programs comply with state and regulatory requirements
Oversees scheduling of training programs and coordination of instructors
Manages training facilities, equipment, and instructional resources
Monitors program quality and instructional standards to ensure consistent, high‑quality training delivery
Acts as the primary liaison with New Jersey regulatory and accrediting agencies for EMT education
Ensures all courses are appropriately staffed and aligned with EMS departmental and educational standards
Qualifications
What You’ll Bring
Education and Certifications (Required):
Current New Jersey EMT Instructor certification
Minimum of three (3) years of documented teaching experience in a New Jersey EMT training program
Current NAEMT Instructor certifications in:
Advanced Medical Life Support (AMLS)
Prehospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS)
Current American Heart Association (AHA) CPR Instructor certification
Bachelor’s degree in Emergency Medical Services, Education, Public Health, or a related field (preferred)
Additional NAEMT Instructor certifications (e.g., EVOC, TCCC)
Experience and Knowledge:
Experience with curriculum development and regulatory compliance in EMS education
Supervisory or program coordination experience in an EMS training environment
Thorough understanding of New Jersey Administrative Code § 8:40A
Knowledge of NHTSA EMT curriculum standards
Skills and Competencies:
Ability to organize and manage multiple training programs simultaneously
Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and support instructors and students
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to clearly convey complex concepts
High attention to detail in record‑keeping, reporting, and regulatory compliance
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Experience using learning management systems (LMS)

The expected hourly rate range for this position is WH/23C - $32.27- $49.35per hour, in accordance with the New Jersey Pay Transparency Law; final compensation will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
