Job Description
Assistant High School Coach (HS)
To instruct athletes in fundamental skills, strategy, and physical training to realize individual and team success while promoting socially acceptable character development, self‑discipline, self‑confidence, and pride of accomplishment. The coach must continually upgrade knowledge and skills through coaching clinics, observations, and consultations.
Essential Functions
Organize and supervise the total sports program.
Enjoy working with the age level and the sport.
Teach and demonstrate skill development and advanced technique.
Assist in coordinating and supporting an off‑season program.
Collaborate with local recreation programs to increase participation.
Serve as a positive role model.
Maintain reliable work attendance.
Qualifications
Coaching endorsement or certification.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of athletic policies and regulations.
Substantial knowledge of the technical aspects of wrestling.
Understanding and consistent application of system, state, and league regulations.
Strong communication skills.Knowledge of proper administrative lines of command and referral processes.
Travel Requirements
Travel to school district buildings and sporting events as required.
Physical Requirements
Mobility required; ability to bend, talk, hear, operate computer; stationary position; balance; lift up to 25 pounds; operate motor vehicle as needed.
Working Conditions
Work may occur during district office hours, evenings, and weekends. The environment can be indoor or outdoor depending on sport.
