Position Summary
This announcement may be used to fill all current or future full‑time and part‑time openings at Youth Challenge Academy Ft. Stewart. If selected, applicant must be in compliance with the grooming regulations found in AR 670-1. Requests for waivers to these requirements will be submitted in accordance with the procedures found in AR 600-20 (Religious Accommodation) or AR 40-501 (Medical Accommodation).

Part time pay is $19.00 per hour.

Program Overview
The Georgia Youth Challenge Program (GaYCP) provides education, leadership, character development, and life‑coping skills to Georgia's youth so they may become successful members of society. The program targets 16‑18 year old youth who are at‑risk of not completing high school. The GaYCP mirrors a U.S. Army basic training environment, offering a structured environment and teaching discipline, self‑control and motivation. It focuses on eight core components: academic excellence, life‑coping skills, job skills training, responsible citizenship, leader/followership, health and hygiene, physical fitness and service to community.

Responsibilities
Supervise and train youth in a quasi‑military style program of physical training, character development and general education. Assist with monitoring, training, disciplining and supervision of cadets. Provide a safe and clean environment, security, non‑professional counseling services and on‑site crisis intervention. Document student progress and encourage cadets to enhance motivation. The selected candidate must be willing to work a flexible schedule, which may include evenings, weekends or additional hours.

Minimum Entry Qualifications

High school diploma or GED and three (3) years of honorable active duty and a copy of DD‑214 (member 4 copy) or reserve component military service that included attainment of an E4 or higher.

One (1) year of experience as a Correctional Officer, Juvenile Correctional Officer or another P.O.S.T. certified position.

Two (2) years of experience at the level equivalent to Cadre Helper/Assistant Youth Leader.

Additional Minimum Qualifications

Ability to instruct, perform and demonstrate physical training activities such as weight training, calisthenics and two‑mile runs.

Possession of a valid Georgia Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with School Bus endorsement.

Ability to learn or sufficient knowledge to lead military drill and ceremony.

Preferred Qualifications

Job experience working with at‑risk youth.

Skill in completing administrative activities including proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Associate’s Degree or higher.

CPR/First Aid certification.
