Assistant DCE of Physical Therapy - Professor of Practice

Position Summary
The Department of Physical Therapy invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure-eligible (Professor of Practice) faculty position in the on-campus, entry-level Doctor of Physical Therapy Program. This is a 10‑month appointment beginning January 1, 2026.

Major Responsibilities

Teaching responsibilities during traditional fall, spring, and summer semesters.

Managing full‑time and integrated clinical education experiences by planning and coordinating with academic and clinical faculty, integrating clinical education throughout the curriculum.

Communicating with and disseminating information to individuals involved in the clinical education process, including those at the clinical education facilities.

Representing the program at regional, state, and national clinical education activities and programs.

Maintaining continuous contact with academic faculty regarding curricular issues related to clinical education.

Keeping faculty informed of overall performance of students throughout their clinical education experiences.

Summarizing information about students’ clinical performance and their ability to integrate academic knowledge, skills, and behaviors at the end of each clinical education course for inclusion in the clinical education annual report.

Assisting the DCE in administering the clinical education program.

Advising undergraduate and graduate students, and providing professional mentoring.

Supervising students during full‑time clinical education experiences (60% of responsibilities):

Clinical site visits and/or CCCE/CI supervision and development.

Assigning students for clinical education experiences.

Developing clinical sites for all levels of clinical education experiences.

Performing other related duties as assigned by the Director of Clinical Education.

Administrative work including Exxat platform management (40% of responsibilities).

Education & Experience Qualifications

Minimum: Doctor of Physical Therapy degree, three years of full‑time post‑licensure clinical practice, and two years of clinical practice as SCCE or CI, or two years of experience in teaching, curriculum development, and administration in a PT program.

Preferred: Prior higher education teaching experience.

Required License Qualification
The candidate must have a current unrestricted license or eligibility for PT licensure in New York State.
