Job Description
Atlantic Health, one of New Jersey's largest non‑profit healthcare networks, is seeking a Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) to join our interdisciplinary healthcare team.
Responsibilities
Perform patient assessments in outpatient and inpatient settings, diagnose health status, develop care plans, and implement treatment.
Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team under physician supervision.
Participate in OB hospital calls, obstetrical and gynecological care, and related procedures.
Document in patient medical records and write discharge summaries for collaborating and referring physicians.
Engage in performance improvement and patient safety initiatives.
Attend department meetings, special projects, and activities as outlined in the APN/Physician agreement.
Inpatient (Labor & Delivery unit) duties:
Attend patients throughout labor, monitor fetal condition, administer medications, and notify physicians of prolonged labor or complications.
Evaluate progression of labor and assess pre‑term labor, rupture of membranes, and other emergencies.
Provide post‑partum care, triage emergencies such as hemorrhage and hypertension, and work flexible hours including evenings if needed.
Take hospital OB call for deliveries and round on patients as necessary.
Travel to additional offices and participate in call duties, weekend and holiday coverage.
Ambulatory office duties:
Provide routine gynecological care, order, perform, and interpret diagnostic tests, and prescribe treatments.
Offer ante‑partum maternal care, including initial and routine prenatal visits and education.
Prepare birthing individuals and families for labor and delivery and assist with the birthing process.
Counsel patients on contraceptives, reproductive health, and family planning.
Conduct complete post‑partum care including lactation support.
Qualifications
Master's Degree in Midwifery Program or related field.
Current state/regional license to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse and a Nurse Midwife.
