EQUIPMENT MECHANIC (Booms and Telehandlers)
Well‑established, busy and profitable aerial lift re‑rental company is seeking a skilled and experienced Equipment Mechanic to assess, troubleshoot, and repair various pieces of aerial construction equipment. The position is located at our Portage, IN equipment yard & facility.

Role & Responsibilities:

Diagnose, repair and perform preventative maintenance on articulating booms, ultra‑booms, spider lifts, and heavy‑capacity & rotational telehandlers.

Perform initial repair inspections and operational tests of equipment.

Perform service, repairs, and preventive maintenance as required.

Conduct hydraulic, electrical and mechanical troubleshooting; run related diagnostics; rebuild hydraulic cylinders, replace worn or damaged parts and fluids.

Create accurate repair lists with assistance of a Fleet Service Specialist.

Perform ANSI‑required annual inspections on man‑lifts.

Requirements:

5+ years of mechanic/repair experience.

3+ years of aerial work platform equipment experience (boom lifts, ultra‑booms, telehandlers, spider lifts).

Intermediate‑to‑advanced level of hydraulic, mechanical and electrical troubleshooting; solid understanding of gas & diesel engines and electric motors.

Ability to produce quality workmanship and work safely.

Good work ethic, positive attitude and willingness to learn and grow skills.

Professional communication skills for working with and updating others.

Physical ability to kneel, stoop, bend, twist, lift and move parts occasionally heavy.

Computer skills to enter, transmit data, and manage e‑mail.

Preferred Candidates:

Knowledge of aerial construction equipment and its safe use.

Previous factory/manufacturer training and/or certification.

Strong communication skills; ability to partner with the Fleet Service Manager.

Other Requirements:

Complete online training where available.

Assist with purchasing parts and creating related purchase orders.

Wage range: $34 – $39 per hour, commensurate with experience. Full benefits are offered.
