Position Summary
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Night Pharmacist - Brooklyn. In this role the successful candidate will be responsible for safely preparing, compounding, and dispensing medications to patients in accordance with the laws and regulations governing pharmacists and the practice of pharmacy by the NYS Board of Pharmacy and NYU Langone Health-Brooklyn's pharmacy policy and procedure. The pharmacist will optimize drug therapy by identifying, resolving, and preventing drug‑related problems to improve therapeutic outcomes. The position works independently within the limits of established pharmacy policies and procedures as a member of the inpatient care team, directs and coordinates the activities of a pharmacy service area, and covers satellite pharmacy preparing IV products, distributing controlled substances, and providing drug information. All pharmacists will be knowledgeable on the safe management and handling of hazardous medications stored and dispensed.

Job Responsibilities

Pharmacoeconomic: Ensure that medication therapies are cost effective and safe.

Narcotic management: Distribute and maintain controlled substances to all Automated Dispensing Cabinets (ADCs). Restock and destock controlled substances, record keeping, inventory control, and reporting of discrepancies to pharmacy manager.

Clinical support: Complete assignments under the direction of the clinical pharmacist or clinical staff; attend daily medical and multidisciplinary rounds, patient discharge counseling, and educate medical, nursing, and allied health professionals.

Order checking & verification: Verify adult and pediatric/Neonatal Total Parenteral Nutrition (TPN) orders, check emergency trays, carts, ambulance boxes.

Sterile products: Work in the sterile products area, ensuring accuracy and sterility of all compounded products per USP 797 regulations. Prepare and verify all IV orders, supervise IV technicians, and double‑check IV and chemo orders.

Clinical decision making: Demonstrate knowledge and skills for patient care, including pharmacokinetic evaluation, chart review, monitoring, and documenting interventions. Submit monthly inspection reports and equipment maintenance logs.

Cultural competence: Treat colleagues with equity, fairness, and consistency; respect privacy and self‑determination, and recognize the inherent value of each individual.

Safety & compliance: Comply with HIPAA, OSHA, Joint Commission, LMC policies, maintain pharmacy credentials, and ensure regulatory compliance for investigational drugs.

Drug information & education: Provide drug information services, conduct continuing education, and support quality improvement activities.

Distribution & security: Ensure timely filling of medication orders, maintain short‑supply communication, and uphold department security.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy or Doctorate of Pharmacy from an accredited college of pharmacy.

Licensed to practice in NY and license in good standing.

Board Certification in a relevant area highly desirable.

Upon orientation and annually thereafter, complete safety training, OSHA/fire safety, infection control, safe handling of chemotherapeutic agents, competency assessments in population‑specific pharmacotherapy, aseptic technique, anti‑infective and anti‑coagulation therapy.

Active and current NY pharmacy license.

Salary Range
The salary range for the role is $146,291.87 – $146,291.87 annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses, incentive, differential pay, or other forms of compensation or benefits.
