
Maintenance Mechanic

The Maintenance Mechanic
will provide technical expertise and labor to maintain college equipment for a safe, comfortable environment for students, faculty, staff and community.
Essential Functions
Conduct preventive maintenance program through inspections and system evaluation.
Duties include electrical, plumbing, heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) repairs, facility structural repairs, facility renovations and/or construction.
Recommend materials and methods of accomplishment and issue material requisitions.
Assist supervisor in campus keying systems. Cut and issue keys, make cores and repair locks and hardware.
Monitor building HVAC control through Energy Management computer system and schedule HVAC in buildings during occupied times.
Monitor powerhouse equipment, perform necessary testing on heating and cooling water loops to ensure proper chemical levels.
Work safely under all conditions.
Must be available for work after hours and on weekends per schedule.
Supplemental Functions
Ability to make decisions.
Ability to operate effectively without supervision.
Ability to work in a team environment.
Ability to relate to a diverse faculty, staff and student population.
Utilize Purchasing systems to order needed parts/supplies.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Specifications
Education, Training and Experience Required
High school diploma or equivalent.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
Minimum three (3) years experience in a multi-skilled maintenance position including electrical and industrial HVAC experience.
Valid Tennessee driver’s license.
Basic Electrical Certification.
Basic computer skills.
Education, Training and Experience Preferred
EPA Refrigeration Certification.
Working Conditions
Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
Some bending, stooping and climbing.
Ability to work in all weather conditions.
Hiring Salary Range
$35,200 - $42,230
(Approximately $18.05 to $21.65 per hour)
This is a full-time position working 37.5 hours a week (7.5 hours a day) with overtime available as needed. This position is primarily located at the Columbia, TN Campus.
