Job Description
Evaluates, administers and directs administration of therapeutic procedures utilized in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, as prescribed by a referring practitioner. Establishes goals of physical therapy and re‑assesses patient’s progress at regular, timely intervals, supporting findings with appropriate documentation. This class is required to care for patients of all ages. Communicates with patients, families, peers, and other professionals as needed to provide continuity of care. Evaluates and treats patients recovering from injury, disease, surgery, or other ailments. Establishes treatment plans and treats patients using a variety of methods, including exercises, stretching maneuvers, hands‑on therapy, and equipment to ease pain and help recovery. Works cooperatively with physicians, case managers, and insurance adjusters. Documents and reports on patient progress. May supervise physical therapy assistants, aides, and athletic trainers.

Education

Degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited school

Experience

New graduates acceptable.

Licenses / Certificates

South Carolina Board Certified / Eligible

Current Driver’s License

BLS required

MUSC Health Black River Medical Center supports a patient‑and family‑centered approach to care. It is 63,500 square feet and includes 25 inpatient beds, five observation beds, two operating rooms, 16 emergency treatment areas, CT scanner, MRI, nuclear medicine, mammography, general radiology, laboratory, respiratory, pharmacy and other ancillary services.
