Qualifications
Degree for an Occupational Therapy Program. Hold a valid WV Occupational Therapy license. Certifiable as a Medicaid provider.
Job Goal
The person assigned to Itinerant Occupational Therapist is to provide services and leadership for the effective implementation of programs for exceptional students.
Responsibilities
Interprets alloccupational therapy evaluations previously developed for orthopedically impaired students.
Evaluates orthopedically impared students specifying appropriate therapy in a timely manner.
Provides occupational therapy at various school locations throughout the county as specified in the Individual Education Program.
Serves as Medicaid provider to refer and deliver services for occupational therapy and any other services required by Medicaid procedure.
Participates in MDET, Eligibility and IEP Committee Meetings.
Participates in the development of the Individualized Education Program. Develops and participates in Trans-disciplinary therapy, between related service providers and trains special educator and/or aide in building for continuity/repetition.
Develops therapy schedule with the Director of Exceptional Students or designee.
Develops list of materials and equipment to be used in delivering therapy.
Consults with special educators, regular educators, physical educators and aides on handling and education the orthopedically impaired student in the classroom.
Formulates individual occupational therapy plans when appropriate.
Assists the physical therapist and teacher in modifying activities to promote the student’s motor development and participation in various activities.
Assists classroom personnel with activities of daily living for the student; i.e., self care, eating, dressing, toileting, and mobility in conjunction with Physical Therapist. Demonstrates unbiased attitudes in fulfilling administrative responsibilities.
Provides in-service education.
Provides supervision for COTA.
200 Day Position

Evaluation
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of Board policy on evaluation of professional personnel.
