At Regions, the Regions Business Capital Underwriter is a client-facing role, responsible for conducting and evaluating new corporate and commercial loans. The individual will work directly with Origination, Credit Risk, Client Coverage, Capital Markets, and other areas of the bank to lead the analysis of credit opportunities, and underwriting of credit exposure while seamlessly delivering value to Regions’ prospects and customers, balancing the risk tolerance of Regions Business Capital with new business objectives and client retention.

Primary Responsibilities

Leads the credit process to ensure that transactions are reviewed thoroughly, in a timely manner and that internal policies and procedures are adhered to

Independently conducts an assessment for borrower risk profile, financial performance, collateral strength, industry position and overall credit worthiness

Balances the risk tolerance of business objectives and client acquisition

Works closely with Origination to structure proposed transaction

Screens new opportunities and underwrites asset-based loans, ensuring behaviors drive a positive customer experience

Independently identifies risks and mitigants relevant to transactions and in relation to the size and complexity of the transaction

Leads and owns the underwriting process to ensure expeditious execution of new business transactions in-line with client’s expectations and business risk tolerance and guidelines

Acts as the central "hub" with origination and credit risk

Supports strong working relationships with key internal partners

Prepares comprehensive and objective memos and models analyzing historical and projected financial performance, collateral quality, borrowing base structure, industry characteristics, capital structure, and other credit attributes

Presents findings and recommendations to Senior Management and Credit Committee

Engages in loan documentation and closing activities with borrower, counsel and relationship management

Includes direct or indirect supervision and direction of the day-to-day activities of junior professionals

This position is exempt from timekeeping requirements under the Fair Labor Standards Act and is not eligible for overtime pay.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or related field

Nine (9) years underwriting and/or portfolio management experience

Skills and Competencies

Ability to manage execution of multiple complex transactions simultaneously

Ability to openly exchange ideas and opinions, elevate concerns, and follow policies and procedures as defined

Ability to quickly develop working relationships with prospective borrowers and key referral sources (private equity firms, investment banks, bank groups, etc.) and to communicate at all levels

Deep understanding of loan structuring, financial analysis, collateral analysis, legal documentation and industry considerations affecting transactions, including experience specific to ABL lending

Exercises independent judgment and applies prudent risk mitigation principles

Extensive track record of underwriting, risk management, and/or relationship management, and closing loans

Compensation Details
Pay ranges are job specific and are provided as a point-of-market reference for compensation decisions. Other factors which directly impact pay for individual associates include: experience, skills, knowledge, contribution, job location and, most importantly, performance in the job role. As these factors vary by individuals, pay will also vary among individual associates within the same job.

The target information listed below is based on the Metropolitan Statistical Area Market Range for where the position is located and level of the position.

Minimum:

$171,256.47 USD

50th Percentile:

$211,039.50 USD

Incentive Pay Plans:

This role is eligible to participate in a discretionary incentive plan. Employees have the potential to receive a discretionary award based on performance against defined metrics and goals. Opportunity to participate in the Long Term Incentive Plan.
