Echocardiograph Technologist - per diem

Description
The Cardiac Ultrasound Technologist, under the direction of the Department Director and Manager, is expected to work independently performing a variety of echocardiography procedures for the diagnosis of heart disorders. The technologist will independently perform transthoracic echocardiograms (TTE) on adult, children, and neonatal patients and prepare a preliminary echo report for review by the interpreting Physician or LIP. Stress echocardiograms, both pharmacologic and exercise, will be performed with the assistance of a qualified Respiratory Care Practitioner, Cardiologist, or other Licensed Independent Practitioner specialized in Cardiology. The technologist is also responsible for acquiring transesophageal echocardiogram (TEE) images under the direct supervision of a cardiac cardiologist, qualified anesthesiologist, or cardiac surgeon. The technologist assumes responsibility for the completeness and accuracy of all exams performed and for effective communication of this information to the cardiologist, anesthesiologist, or cardiac surgeon for final interpretation.

The Cardiac Ultrasound Technologist individualizes patient care using age‑related concepts appropriate to the unit population, applying knowledge of growth and development, safety needs, data collection and interpretation, treatments and care typically required, and participation in the evaluation of care. The technologist utilizes age‑related concepts when communicating with patients and families, using medical equipment, participating in diagnostic or other procedures, and when teaching patients and families.

Qualifications

Graduate of an approved Cardiac Sonographer program.

Upon hire: National Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer from the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography, or National Certification from Cardiovascular Credentialing International.

Upon hire: National Provider BLS – American Heart Association.

Preferred: 3 years’ experience in the field.

Additional compensation may be available for this role, such as shift differentials, standby/on‑call, overtime, premiums, extra shift incentives, or bonus opportunities.

Pay Range: $54.73 – $88.88 per hour. The successful candidate’s placement on the wage range will be determined based upon relevant job experience and other applicable factors.
