
Dual Echocardiograph Technologist - Echo and Vascular

We are seeking a Dual Echocardiograph Technologist – Echo and Vascular to join our team in Rutherford, NJ.
The Dual Echocardiograph Technologist performs both non‑invasive cardiac ultrasound and peripheral vascular (vein) ultrasound procedures to support the diagnosis and management of cardiovascular and venous disease. This full‑time role supports Optum's commitment to high‑quality, patient‑centered care through accurate diagnostic imaging, clinical collaboration, and compassionate patient interaction.
Primary Responsibilities
Perform transthoracic echocardiograms in accordance with established protocols and IAC standards
Perform peripheral venous and vascular ultrasound studies, including venous reflux and DVT evaluations
Obtain and document relevant patient history and clinical indications
Prepare patients, explain procedures clearly, and ensure comfort and safety throughout examinations
Acquire high‑quality diagnostic images, Doppler data, and measurements for physician interpretation
Monitor patient status during procedures and promptly report abnormal findings or patient condition changes
Maintain complete and accurate electronic medical records and procedure documentation
Ensure proper operation, cleaning, and basic troubleshooting of ultrasound equipment
Collaborate effectively with cardiologists, vascular providers, clinical staff, and operations teams
Adhere to Optum policies, HIPAA requirements, OSHA standards, and infection control guidelines
Required Qualifications
Associate degree in Cardiovascular Technology, Vascular Technology, or graduate of an accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography program
Active national registry credentials:
ARDMS: RDCS (Adult Echo) AND RVT (Vascular), OR
CCI: RCS (Cardiac) AND RVS (Vascular)
Current BLS/CPR certification for Healthcare Providers
Demonstrated experience performing venous and vascular ultrasound procedures
Working knowledge of adult cardiac anatomy, hemodynamics, and vascular pathology
Proficiency with electronic health record systems
Preferred Qualification
1+ years of recent echocardiography and vascular/vein ultrasound experience
New Jersey Credentialing Note
New Jersey does not require state licensure for cardiac or vascular sonographers. National registry credentials (ARDMS or CCI) in both echocardiography and vascular technology are required for this dual technologist position.
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive scanning motions
Ability to lift, move, or position patients and equipment up to 50 pounds
Ability to bend, kneel, squat, and assist patients with positioning
Visual acuity sufficient for diagnostic imaging interpretation
Pay is based on several factors including local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The hourly pay for this role will range from $28.94 to $51.63 per hour based on full‑time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
