Position Summary
Conduct chemical and physical laboratory tests to assist scientists in making qualitative and quantitative analyses of solids, liquids, and gaseous materials for research and development, quality control, maintenance of environmental standards, and other experimental work involving chemistry and related sciences.

Essential Functions

Monitor product quality to ensure compliance with standards and specifications.

Set up and conduct chemical experiments, tests, and analyses using techniques such as chromatography, spectroscopy, and physical and chemical separation techniques.

Assist in the analysis of raw materials and product batches.

Compile and interpret results of tests and analyses.

Provide technical support and assistance to chemists and engineers.

Prepare chemical solutions for products and processes following standardized formulas or create experimental formulas.

Maintain, clean, and calibrate laboratory instruments and equipment.

Write technical reports to document experimental results.

Order and inventory materials to maintain supplies.

Assist in developing QC methods of sampling and analysis to maintain quality standards of raw materials, chemical intermediates, and products; document results in notebooks and batch sheets.

Create Certificates of Analysis for completed batches, communicate results to the chemist in charge of the project, and keep lab technicians and supervisors informed of batch status.

Approve Certificates of Analysis for raw materials.

Maintain files for Certificates of Analysis and Material Safety Data Sheets.

Abide by all company and OSHA lab safety standards set for work areas.

Education

Minimum of High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED).

B.S. in Chemistry, Biology, or a related science field is a plus.

Experience

General laboratory skills.

Detail-oriented.

Skills & Abilities
Computer Skills:

MS Word and Excel.

Other Physical Requirements

Vision (Near, Distance, Color, Peripheral, Depth Perception).

Sense of Sound (voice, equipment sounds, alarms, phone).

No of Smell.

No of Touch.

Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, respiratory protection, nitrile gloves, closed-toe and heel shoes, and lab coat.

Work Environment

Ventilated, well-lit laboratory with work benches, vented hoods, tile or epoxy flooring; temperatures are high.

Work Schedule
12‑hour rotating shift position. Rotating shift; alternating 36‑/48‑hour workweeks: 7:30 a.m. – 8:00 p.m./7:30 p.m. – 8:00 a.m.
