Distribution Designer – Charlotte, NC
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Distribution Designer to join our engineering team. In this role you will design and engineer medium‑voltage (1 kV to 35 kV) overhead and underground power distribution systems and prepare engineering‑quality drawings suitable for construction, project estimates, and permitting documents.
Responsibilities
Design and engineer medium‑voltage (1 kV to 35 kV) overhead and underground power distribution systems
Review and/or prepare engineering‑quality drawings suitable for construction, project estimates, and permitting documents
Perform site visits to inspect, measure, and verify designs
Conduct pole loading analyses and determine appropriate equipment sizing for residential projects
Assist with fielding work when needed
Qualifications
Associate’s Degree in Engineering Technology or Drafting is preferred
1+ years of Distribution design experience is required
Previous Duke Energy design experience is required
Experience with Maximo, BOUD, SEDS, and Pole Foreman is required
Katapult experience is a plus
Ability to follow prescribed standards and procedures
Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office products such as Outlook, Word, and Excel
Must have a valid Driver’s License
Pay Range
$60,000 – $70,000 per year
