Westminster at Lake Ridge is a premier Continuing Care Retirement Community serving older adults in three levels of service: Independent Living, Assisted Living, and a Health Center. Our team of roughly 270 total employees serves a population of over 400 total residents on 62 acres that back up to the Occoquan reservoir. Job Requirements
A high school diploma or GED is required, along with one to three years of experience as a Certified Nursing Assistant, preferably in a memory support or dementia care setting. Candidates must also hold a Medication Technician certification from an approved program or possess an equivalent combination of education and experience. Within the first 90 days of hire, the incumbent must have current active status or the ability to register as a Certified Dementia Practitioner through the National Certification Council for Dementia Practitioners (NCCDP). Successful candidates will demonstrate the ability to follow written and oral instructions, possess strong verbal and written communication skills, and exhibit outstanding customer service and interpersonal abilities. In addition, knowledge of medical nursing principles and practices is essential.
Job Summary
This role is dedicated to enhancing the wellbeing of MSAL residents through compassionate, person‑centered care. The role also calls for compassion toward older adults and a commitment to person‑centered care that emphasizes hospitality and excellence in personalized assistance. Responsibilities include administering medications, engaging residents in meaningful activities, and assisting with household tasks such as meal service and light housekeeping. The position requires patience and kindness in responding to challenging behaviors, complex personalities, and difficult circumstances. Success in this role is defined by the ability to build and sustain positive, supportive relationships with residents through empathy, attentive listening, and consistent care. Key Responsibilities
Personal Care
Provides quality resident‑directed care based on individualized resident service plans.
Assists residents with bathing, oral hygiene, dressing and toileting in their preferred method and at their preferred time of day and frequency.
Maintain cleanliness, dryness, and comfort; promptly change soiled clothing or undergarments.
Reports any abnormal skin or hygiene concerns to the Assistant Living Manager.
Documents food and fluid intake; notify Assisted Living Manager and dietician of nutritional concerns.
Engage residents in memory‑stimulating activities (music, puzzles, games).
Provide companionship and emotional support to reduce confusion and anxiety.
Maintain a safe, clean, and comfortable environment.
Document care provided and participate in service plan updates.
Household Duties
Perform household tasks collaboratively with residents.
Assists with feeding and monitors dietary tolerance.
Serves residents high quality meals; join residents at mealtime for engagement.
Maintains cleanliness of common areas, equipment, and resident rooms.
Assists with laundry and daily household programming.
Medical Duties
Conducts daily assessments and general medical care functions.
Obtains shift report and complete resident rounds promptly.
Monitor and record vital signs as ordered by the physician or per Assistant Living Manager.
Record changes in resident condition and provide proper notification to Assistant Living Manager.
Support dementia‑specific care by monitoring behavioral changes that may indicate medication issues.
Collaborate with Assistant Living Manager and physician to adjust medication plans when necessary.
Responds to residents’ calls for assistance promptly.
Measures intake and output on residents as directed; records and reports the findings appropriately, noting any irregularities.
Records resident bowel functions, noting irregularities.
Medication Administration
Provides medication on a regular basis to residents in Memory Support Assisted Living.
Administers resident’s prescribed medications and treatments on a daily basis to include transdermal patches, nebulization with inhalation medications, and pills according to physician’s orders.
Follow the “Five Rights” of medication administration: right resident, right medication, right dose, right route and right time.
Document medication administration on EMR, monitor residents side effects or changes in condition; report concerns promptly to Assistant Living Manager.
Maintain medication inventory, ensure proper storage, and check for expired medications.
Reviews assigned resident charts to ensure the proper medication is administered at the proper time.
Keep the medication cart and medication room clean, organized, and stocked.

Maintains resident confidentiality and privacy at all times according to policies and procedures; uses discretion when discussing confidential matters.
