Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP) – Level I/II Neonatal Practice
The Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) is seeking a highly skilled and confident Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP) to join our established Level I/II neonatal practice at MUSC Health Columbia Medical Center Northeast. This is a unique opportunity to be part of a collaborative, forward‑thinking team that leverages cutting‑edge Telehealth technology to deliver exceptional care in partnership with MUSC Physicians in Charleston, SC.
Responsibilities
Attend high‑risk deliveries and provide immediate, expert care to newborns.
Develop and implement individualized care plans for each infant.
Collaborate in real‑time with MUSC’s neonatology specialists via Telehealth, ensuring continuity and excellence in care.
Make autonomous, informed decisions in a fast‑paced environment, while effectively communicating critical information to off‑site physicians.
Provide bedside care for infants 32 weeks and above, including resuscitation, CPAP, peripheral IVs, ART sticks, ventilator management, pulmonary surfactant administration, umbilical lines, catheters, and other sick‑baby procedures.
Perform circumcision with training provided for Plastibell if needed.
Lead and collaborate with the neonatology team.
About This Position
Minimum 5 years of experience as an NNP.
Inpatient coverage – Level I/II nursery (ADC 1‑2).
Approximately 7 (24‑hour) shifts a month.
Shifts 8 am–5 pm in‑house with call from home after 5 pm (within 30 min).
Call room provided for providers outside of 30‑minute radius.
Peds consults to ER as requested.
Strong leadership experience preferred.

Required Minimum Training and Education
Physician Assistant – completion of an accredited PA program and current or eligible licensure.
Or: NP/NNP – completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program and current or eligible licensure as a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner.
Must have 3–5 years’ experience as a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant with Neonatal ICU experience.
Degree of Supervision
Assigned a Primary Supervising/Collaborating Physician employed by MUSC.
Required Licensure, Certifications, Registrations
Licensed or eligible as an NNP with the SC Board of Nursing, or a Physician Assistant by the South Carolina Board of Medical Examiners.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (or enroll to obtain by start date).
Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification (or enroll to obtain by start date).
DHEC and DEA license applications submitted prior to first day.
