HX5 is currently seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our team in Brook Park, Ohio in support of the GEARS contract at NASA Glenn Research Center (GRC).
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The selected candidate will provide engineering support for the technological development of superconducting motors as well as cryocoolers for cooling superconducting systems.
Required Skills
Understanding of mechanical components and assemblies.
Excellent 3D modeling and drawing skills, preferably using Solidworks.
Familiarity with sensors and data acquisition systems.
Skill at troubleshooting mechanical hardware.
Knowledge of heat transfer principles and thermal management for test environments.
Awareness of lab safety protocols and handling of mechanical systems under operational conditions.
Ability to create detailed test procedures, test plans, setup diagrams, and reports.
Other Desired Skills
Cryogenic and vacuum systems
Fluid system design
Operating and preparing test setups
Familiarity with electric systems
Education and Experience
Mechanical Engineering degree from an accredited program, with the following education and experience:
Bachelor’s degree with 2 to 5 years of experience.
Master’s degree with 0 to 3 years of experience.
Other Position Requirements
Proof of U.S. citizenship is a requirement for this position.
Must be able to complete a U.S. government background investigation.
