Position Summary. The production supervisor is responsible for supervising the production team in a manufacturing environment to ensure safe and efficient plant operations. The supervisor will manage staff, organize and monitor workflow, implement policies, and promote continuous process improvement initiatives. The production supervisor is directly responsible for safety, quality, and regulatory requirements.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Safety – Implement Matheson's safety procedures, maintain safety logs, and keep a clean and safe work environment.
Productivity – Implement continuous process improvement programs to increase productivity, reduce costs, shorten production cycle time, and reduce quality issues.
Purchasing – Acquire components needed for building and refurbishing cryogenic food freezers and related equipment, maintain proper inventory levels, and build vendor relationships to lower costs and improve quality.
Staff – Recruit, train, and develop staff.
Production scheduling – Establish production plans and assign personnel to complete projects on time, coordinate with customers and Matheson employees for satisfaction, provide updates, adjust schedules when needed, and resolve issues.
Accounting – Track project costs and bill customers for completed work in collaboration with company accountants.
Field Service, Freezers – Schedule freezer maintenance and installations.
Field Service, Pipe – Schedule and manage quotes for Western Region pipe installations.
Finished Goods Inventory – Manage inventory of used food freezers and coordinate with the marketing group to communicate freezer availability to the Matheson sales force.
Perform other projects and duties as assigned.
WORK HOURS
Typical hours are Monday through Friday and may include some Saturday hours if applicable. This is a full-time position.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Directly supervises local site employees and carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
QUALIFICATIONS

College degree in engineering, engineering management, or significant related experience.
3+ years of plant, production, manufacturing, or equivalent experience.
Experience in inventory management.
Ability to perform mathematical exercises of moderate complexity.

Basic administrative and problem‑solving skills.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Computer skills: MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
