
Perfusionist
Salem Health Hospitals & Clinics, Plano, TX, United States
Responsible for the physiological support of patients requiring the heart‑lung machine during surgery. This includes assuming the functions of the heart and lungs, brain protection, and adjusting to minute‑to‑minute metabolic changes. Provide hemodynamic support through the use of the intra‑aortic balloon pump and other technology.
Qualifications
Work requires knowledge of theories, principles, and concepts normally acquired through completion of a Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical or a closely related field and two to three years of related experience. Certification is required as a Certified Clinical Perfusionist by the American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion (ACP) and Perfusionist Licensure by NJ State. Requires analytical ability to collect information from diverse sources, apply professional principles in performing various analyses, and summarize the information and data to solve problems and design relatively complex systems and programs.
