Welcome to the 5300 Medical‑Surgical Renal/Pulmonary unit at TriHealth Bethesda North. This 43‑bed unit specializes in caring for patients with renal and pulmonary conditions, including COPD exacerbations and dialysis complications. Our diverse patient population provides a dynamic environment that allows nurses to develop a broad range of skills and knowledge in a fast‑paced setting. The unit supports new graduates and experienced nurses alike, fostering professional growth and mastery of essential skills such as peritoneal dialysis, time management, and compassionate patient care.

Job Requirements
Associate’s Degree or Diploma in Nursing
New hires required to obtain BSN within 5 years of hire
BLS/CPR (Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers)
Registered Nurse license
Knowledge, judgment, and skills derived from the principles of biological, physical, behavioral, social, and nursing sciences to meet complex health‑care needs at various stages of the life cycle
Preferred membership in a related professional organization
RNs with >1 year full‑time or 2 years part‑time acute‑care experience
Preferred certification in a specialty
Job Responsibilities
Perform and document initial and ongoing patient/family assessments
Develop, communicate, and update individualized plans of care, including discharge planning
Provide safe, patient‑centered care that supports autonomy, dignity, and diversity
Recognize and respond to emergencies and take appropriate clinical action
Carry out physician orders accurately and in a timely manner
Complete assigned care and documentation within required timeframes
Administer medications/treatments safely and perform technical skills per policy
Evaluate patient responses and revise the plan of care in collaboration with the healthcare team
Supervise and delegate tasks appropriately to other team members
Serve as a clinical resource and support training/education of staff and students
Maintain current clinical knowledge and adhere to organizational and departmental standards
Function in relief charge/resource roles as requested
