Description
The Senior Speech Language Pathologist evaluates and treats patients referred for speech, language, cognitive, and dysphagia dysfunction.
Responsibilities
Administers speech/language and or cognitive evaluations, tests or examinations to patients to collect information on type and degree of impairment.
Evaluates speech/language test results and medical or background information to determine speech impairment and treatment.
Counsels and instructs patients concerning communication disorders and how to cope with the stress and misunderstanding that may accompany them.
Provides patients, families and caregivers with ongoing counseling and education to facilitate communication.
Assists patients in developing and recovering reliable communication and swallowing skills to allow them to fulfill their educational, vocational and social roles.
Conducts speech pathology in-service training programs for rehabilitation staff.
Records and maintains reports of speech or swallowing treatments.
Formulates and implements group therapy programs to address the needs of impaired patients and their families.
Participates in conferences or training to update or share knowledge of new speech pathology or speech/cognitive/language/dysphagia treatment methods or technology.
Mentors less experienced Speech Pathology staff.
Performs other related duties.
Qualifications
Master's degree or equivalent education in speech-language pathology
3 years of speech-language pathology experience
New York State Speech-Language Pathologist License; New York State Education Department
Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech and Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) - American Speech-Language-Hearing Association
Compensation
The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides salary ranges that comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $50,0601 - $55,5684 Hourly. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and operational need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
