Overview
Sentara RMH Medical Center is now hiring a
Registered Nurse
for the
Progressive Care unit . This position is ideal for candidates who have experience or interest in working in a high acuity unit. Patient population includes pain, shortness of breath, fatigue, numbness, and problems with sleep. Assists families with medical decisions by providing better understanding of the medical condition and choices for medical care. Seeking strong customer service and great work ethic.
Sign on bonus up to $20,000 offered plus relocation assistance.
Education
Associates or Bachelor's Degree - Nursing (Required)
Will give consideration to upcoming graduates of an approved RN program
Certification / Licensure
Registered Nurse (Required)
Experience
Previous acute care experience (Preferred)
Duties / Responsibilities
The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for performing a competent level of nursing care as demonstrated by the critical thinking model known as the nursing process. The standards of practice (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care- teaching and health promotion and evaluation) along with the standards of professional performance (ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence-based practice
ursing research, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health) encompass the actions and foundation of professional nursing. The RN possesses clinical knowledge and skills to meet standards as required by specific clinical areas.
Transition to Practice / Nurse Residency Program
This 10-week TTP program focuses on the orientation transition experience with intentional knowledge support and skill acquisition for practice in Medical-Surgical areas. For new graduates, this TTP program is the start of a comprehensive 6-month residency program to support your transition to practice.
Program Includes
Formal delivery of fundamental nursing concepts and standards with in-person sessions utilizing case studies, gaming, simulation, and skills labs
Exposure to Sentara policies and evidence-based practice guidelines
Hands‑on experience alongside a trained nurse preceptor
Opportunity to share your experiences/ networking with peers in a safe, protected environment
A series of virtual professional development sessions with mentoring (optional for experienced nurses)
