
Field Service Representative - Power Distribution/Electrical

Schneider’s Field Service Representatives play an impactful role within the organization – collaborating with customers, team members and third‑party partners to perform assembly, startup, diagnostic, repair and preventive maintenance on both company and third‑party equipment.
We provide comprehensive training on our products, digital and physical tools, and supply service vehicles, tools, uniforms, mobile devices and laptops for daily professional use.
This position is site‑based with occasional non‑standard hours. A 40‑hour work week is guaranteed (overtime is possible) and most work occurs at customer sites.
Field Service Representatives will focus on servicing equipment that supports power distribution and critical power infrastructure.
Typical Day
Pre‑site, startup, repair, preventive maintenance and field modification of equipment
Problem‑solving with customers, electricians, sales partners, technical support and district service teams
Completing field service reports, expense reports, preventive maintenance and startup data sheets
Working with manager or regional service director to resolve complex escalated issues
Continuous learning and training on various products in the field and in the classroom
Additional Responsibilities
Travel throughout the region or countrywide, including overnight travel by vehicle or air
Assist senior technicians and support project management on larger system start‑ups
Work alongside larger teams of FSRs and collaborate with project managers on higher‑complexity projects
Act on behalf of the district service manager to resolve operational issues as required
Qualifications
Associate’s degree, trade/vocational certification or equivalent military training in electrical disciplines
Ability to read blueprints and schematics
Thorough understanding of AC and DC power principles and various supply circuit components
2+ years of field‑service repair and customer service with UPS systems, power distribution and switchgear, seamless automatic transfer switches, power distribution units, electrical, electro‑mechanical or electronics equipment
2+ years in field services or equivalent industry experience
Good safety practices and adherence to company safety procedures (lock‑out/tag‑out, compliance with all safety programs, timely completion of safety‑related trainings)
Identification of hazards and reporting of safety matters, incidents and near‑misses to management or safety representative
NFPA‑70E or OSHA experience preferred
Safe driving and vehicle operation skills
Skilled at utilizing test and diagnostic equipment
Experience reading and interpreting schematics, drawings and operation manuals
Ability to write service reports and correspondence, present information effectively and respond to customer questions
Frequent strenuous physical tasks, including bending, stooping, lifting and carrying items up to 40 pounds
Work outside in varying environmental extremes (heat, cold, rain, dust)
Standing for extended periods, including confined spaces
English proficiency required for communication with customers and teammates
Proficiency in basic computer skills and systems (Microsoft Office: Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel and the ability to navigate company digital tools)
