PE Electrical Engineer

Job Responsibilities

Lead a discipline engineering team on projects with guidance and supervise design personnel and other specialist staff.

Responsible for electrical engineering design review and assist in developing design standards, specifications, and quality control procedures.

Serve as the lead engineer or technical expert on small to medium projects, planning and managing the engineering activities.

Perform power engineering tasks and calculations for processing and heavy industrial projects, including Oil and Gas, Renewables, Petrochemical, and Industrial Wastewater Treatment facilities.

Support specification development and research for distribution switchgear, MCCs, panels, motor starters/VFDs, etc.

Competently develop Oneline and panel schedules, perform cable tray/conduit layout and fill calculations, cable/wire sizing, and CAD drafting.

Review vendor submittals and develop wiring diagrams based on vendor drawings.

Review work for discrepancies or inconsistencies.

Track details of work to discuss with supervisor.

Research and resolve issues with all available tools.

Develop and improve technical knowledge and skills.

Maintain professionalism in relationships with office and team members.

Mentor less experienced engineers, designers, and drafters.

Plan communication approaches and present information effectively.

Seek out and implement company and client technical standards on projects.

Travel as requested.

Make site visits to observe during construction and operation.

Design lighting layouts, luminaires, and circuit switching.

Follow QA/QC procedures and complete self-checks before submitting work for review.

Maintain organized project files, calculations, and design assumptions per document control requirements.

Contribute to lessons learned and continuous improvement of templates and standards.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a similar ABET accredited engineering degree and relevant experience.

7–10+ years’ experience.

Coursework in power engineering.

PE preferred in home state.

NCEES Registration.

Working understanding of the National Electrical Code and NFPA 70E.

Ability to create and understand One‑Line Diagrams and Control Schematics.

Proficiency with engineering tools such as ETAP / SKM.

Proficient knowledge of symmetrical components, fault current calculations, and machine theory.

Ability to work with supervisor to complete routine tasks.

Capable of breaking a task into component parts and sequencing them effectively.

Experience with medium‑voltage systems and protective devices (exposure level).

Construction/commissioning support experience (site walkdowns, RFIs, as‑built reviews).

Execute practical and constructible design solutions.

Solid understanding of the scope, schedule, and budget for engineering tasks.

Self‑starter who can apply standard textbook electrical design and analysis approaches.

Efficiently execute design from concept through completion.

Organize work logically and delegate tasks to junior team members.

Collaborate with electrical and other discipline team members on various projects.

Offer suggestions and corrections on organization and planning issues.

Work productively through conflict to keep tasks moving forward.

Familiar with the business of electrical engineering as well as technical design issues.

Strong verbal and written communication skills that are well organized and persuasive.

Proficient in MS Office Suite, such as Word and Excel.

Target Salary Range:

$124,000 to $155,000 (determined by education, experience, qualifications, certifications, and other competencies).

Physical Requirements

Constantly required to sit, stand, walk, stoop, kneel, bend, and reach with hands and arms.

Constantly use hands to type, handle materials, or manipulate objects.

Light work that includes lifting and/or moving up to 20 pounds and, occasionally, up to 50 pounds.

Frequently moving about to accomplish tasks.

Specific vision abilities: close vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Sufficient clarity of speech and hearing abilities to discern verbal instructions and communicate effectively.

Requires composure and ability to prioritize and handle several urgent tasks and requests simultaneously with competence and accuracy.

Occasionally climbing stairs and ladders to read meters at active oil & gas sites.

Environmental factors: work conducted in an indoor office environment, but may include extreme temperatures, fumes, variable weather conditions, outdoor work, and noise due to travel and work on sites.

Additional Information
Position: Full‑time, exempt.

Work Location: 5620 Ward Rd., Suite 200, Arvada, CO 80002.

This position offers the flexibility to have a hybrid in‑office work schedule.

Travel: Less than 10%.
