Overview
CBS Mornings is seeking a smart, creative, and enterprising Producer with a passion for politics and proven scripting experience. The ideal candidate has a solid command of journalistic standards, keen attention to detail, and exemplary newsgathering skills. They must be calm and efficient during breaking news and a collaborative member of the newsroom. This is a Sunday – Thursday schedule based in the CBS News Washington, D.C. Bureau.
Responsibilities
Produce day-of-air packages and correspondent two-ways, with a focus on political reporting and breaking developments out of Washington, D.C.
Work closely with correspondents on daily output
Conceptualize graphics and craft scripts for both television and digital platforms
Basic Qualifications
5+ years of TV news experience
Well-developed editorial judgement and writing skills with original scripting experience
Ability to prepare copy and packages for air
Experience developing graphics
Understanding of newsgathering and transmission technology
Additional Qualifications
Experience with breaking news and live shots
Exercise editorial judgment and pitch late-breaking developments
Experience working directly with correspondentsFamiliarity producing across platforms
Collaborative team player with positive attitude
Thrives in high-pressure and time-critical situations
Additional Information
Hiring Salary Range: $100,000.00 - 132,000.00.
The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, tuition assistance program and PTO or, if applicable, as otherwise dictated by the appropriate Collective Bargaining Agreement.
