Position Summary
Heart South is seeking a skilled Echo / Vascular Sonographer I to provide high-quality diagnostic cardiology and vascular ultrasound imaging. This role delivers direct patient care while performing echocardiography and/or vascular studies under the guidance of departmental leadership to support accurate diagnosis and treatment.

Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
Perform noninvasive and/or invasive echocardiology and vascular ultrasound examinations
Demonstrate competency in ultrasound equipment operation and routine diagnostics
Acquire and document accurate patient history and clinical information
Identify normal and abnormal anatomy and physiology
Position patients and equipment to ensure high-quality diagnostic images
Assess image quality, ensure proper annotation, and verify patient identification
Work collaboratively with cardiologists and the healthcare team
Deliver patient-centered care while ensuring patient safety and comfort
Maintain accurate and timely documentation in electronic systems
Participate in quality control, safety initiatives, and workflow support
Assist in supervising students and orienting new sonographers as needed
Comply with all regulatory, accreditation, and organizational standards
Qualifications
Education & Training
Graduate of an accredited school of sonography
Meets education and training requirements per ARDMS and/or CCI guidelines
Licensure & Certifications
Current BLS/Healthcare Provider certification required
Must maintain one of the following (or obtain within 12 months of hire):
RDMS
(ARDMS)
RDCS
(ARDMS)
RCS, ACS, or RCCS
(CCI)
RVT
(ARDMS)
RVS
(CCI)
Experience
Ability to perform routine echocardiology exams (2‑D, M‑Mode, Doppler)
Ability to perform vascular exams including carotid, venous, and arterial studies
Must demonstrate competency within six (6) months of hire in at least
three
advanced echo or vascular procedures
