Assistant Coach Men’s and Women’s Cross Country / Assistant Coach Men’s and Women’s Indoor‑Outdoor Track and Field
Assists with all facets of men’s and women’s cross country and men’s and women’s indoor/outdoor track and field including recruiting, organization and planning of practices, meet strategies, and monitoring academic progress.

Location: Utica, NY

Major Responsibilities

Understanding of, and adherence to, Utica University Athletic Department philosophy, NCAA and Empire 8 rules and regulations.

Recruit and retain prospective student‑athletes for cross‑country runners, throwers, jumpers, sprinters, and all appropriate track and field positions.

Assist with planning and running daily practice sessions to ensure student athletes are organized and prepared.

Provide leadership to ensure that student‑athletes have a positive experience and assist with monitoring student‑athletes’ academic success, providing direction when necessary.

Assist with managing equipment usage, ordering and maintaining uniforms, hurdles, etc., and work with the Athletic Director on game scheduling and transportation.

Ensure sports information statistics and publications are accurate and updated.

Assist with set‑up and breakdown of all track and field events in the Hutton Dome.

Attend van training annually.

Work with supervisor and other team members to achieve successful results on departmental goals and key performance indicators.

May perform other related duties as assigned.

Driving Responsibilities
Maintain a clean driving record as defined by University insurance carrier guidelines. Vehicle record will be monitored regularly and van training will be attended annually.

Travel
Must be willing to travel.

Supervises
May oversee assigned work‑study students.

Education & Experience Qualifications

3‑5 years experience preferred.

Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations.

Knowledge of cross country and track and field.

Must be certified in first aid, CPR and AED.

Interpersonal communication skills.

Strong commitment to diversity and continually work to enhance diversity among students, faculty, and staff.

Strong organizational skills.

Willingness to travel.

Salary
Posted Salary: $40,000
