Overview
Well Planning Geologist III – Unconventional Well Planning Geologist responsible for subsurface interpretation, target definition, and delivery of well planning products to support horizontal drilling programs. Role supports both planning and execution alignment with drilling teams.

5/2 – 40 hours/week

Key Responsibilities
Correlate and refine target windows for horizontal well planning using logs, subsurface data, and offset wells
Develop and deliver well-planning products:
Target maps
Structure maps
Cross sections
Target window definitions
Support drilling teams through pre-spud planning and execution alignment
Identify geologic variability and communicate risks and constraints to execution teams
Incorporate offset well results and lessons learned into future planning
Continuously improve well planning templates and targeting workflows
Ensure execution learnings are fed back into development decisions
Interface across multidisciplinary teams (drilling, completions, reservoir, geoscience)
Qualifications
Master’s degree in Geoscience (preferred)
Strong unconventional oil & gas experience (Midland Basin preferred)
Proven experience in well planning and geologic operations
Software:
Kingdom (required)
Petrel (preferred)
Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
