Job Summary
Performs complex agricultural work, producing livestock and agricultural products, monitoring the activities of assigned inmates, and working under general supervision with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
Essential Functions
Provides technical assistance in the care and accountability of livestock and oversees livestock program operations.
Assists in producing, processing, and distributing livestock, animal feed rations, and related commodities; assists in breeding and preventive medical treatment of livestock.
Oversees the operation of agricultural machinery and assists in the construction, repair, and maintenance of agricultural facilities.
Implements an established training program; assists in maintaining inventory of materials and supplies; assists in maintaining records and prepares related correspondence and reports.
Maintains security of tools, machinery, and equipment; responds to emergency situations; searches for escaped inmates; transports assigned inmates; performs various correctional and custodial functions.
Performs a variety of marginal duties not listed, to be determined and assigned as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
Position filled at Agriculture Specialist I, II, or III Pay Level
Title: Agriculture Specialist I
– Salary: $3,537.92/month (GR.A14). Retiree: $3,463.82.
Title: Agriculture Specialist II
– Salary: $3,716.86/month (GR.A15). Retiree: $3,638.40.
Title: Agriculture Specialist III
– Salary: $3,906.52/month (GR.A16). Retiree: $3,823.44.
When filling the available positions, consideration will be given to the selected applicant’s education and experience.
The Manufacturing, Agribusiness, and Logistics Division has only one Agriculture Specialist position available. Applicants need only submit one application for employment.
No military equivalent.
