Job Description
Purpose:
The Head Volleyball Coach promotes an appreciation of physical fitness, teamwork, and sportsmanship. The Head Volleyball Coach provides leadership and supervision for team and individual sports, and works closely with the other staff and administration of the Wynne School District.
Reports To : Athletic Director and High School Principal.
Payment Rate : According to the Wynne School District Salary Schedule.
Qualifications
Current Arkansas Teaching Certificate.
Current Arkansas Coaching Endorsement.
Current First Aid/CPR Certification.
Have a valid driver’s license, be able to drive, and qualify under the district’s insurance carrier when driving a district vehicle.
Desire to continue career improvement.
Physical Requirements/Environmental Conditions
Requires prolonged sitting or standing.
Occasionally requires physical exertion to manually move, lift, carry, pull, or push heavy objects or materials.
Occasional stooping, bending, and reaching.
Requires some travel.
Must work indoors and outdoors year round.
Must work in noisy and crowded environments.
General Responsibilities
Coordinate and supervise the 7-12 volleyball program and teams.
Promote an appreciation of physical fitness, teamwork, and sportsmanship within the 7-12 Volleyball Program.
Design a training program to enhance athlete and team development.
Organize and supervise the coaching staff to ensure that the program is properly implemented.
Train assistant coaches in techniques, skills, philosophy, rules, and strategies.
Call meetings with coaching staff periodically and consistently throughout the sports season.
Responsible for assisting the Athletic Director with the following:
Game and practice scheduling.
Transportation requests for games and team camps.
Meal arrangements for trips.
Securing officials for home games.
Reporting of game results to media and state required websites.
Complete/Attend Arkansas Activities Association (AAA) rules meetings, and adhere to rules and regulations.
Ensure that all activities conform to Arkansas Activities Association guidelines.
Develop team rules, communicate them to the players and their parents, and equitably enforce them.
Conduct a 7-12 parent meeting to discuss the program expectations prior to each season.
Maintain good public relations for the Volleyball program including:
Conduct a youth volleyball camp each year.
Present programs to community groups such as Booster Clubs.
Notify media of sporting events, scores, and news items, before and after games or events.
Ensure that student athletes meet eligibility rules.
Ensure that physical evaluation forms and permission forms are properly completed/filed in the Athletic Director's office.
Ensure that student athletes adhere to training rules, lettering policies, grade requirements, and rules of behavior.
Ensure the continual supervision of student athletes on the court, in conditioning, and in locker-rooms.
Ensure that health and safety precautions are observed during all activities.
Immediately report all major injuries incurred during practice sessions or competitions to the Athletic Director and A.T.
Ensure proper purchasing, inventory, and care of equipment.
Submit a complete team roster to the Athletic Director ten days prior to the first contest.
Complete and submit a letterman/awards report to the Athletic Director at the close of each season.
Submit annually an accurate and updated inventory of all volleyball equipment to the Athletic Director.
See that district policies are observed during all activities.
Keep abreast of new information, techniques, and tactics in the coaching profession.
Other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director, Principal, or other Administrative Staff.
Support the mission and vision of the Wynne School District.
Promote/support athletes participation in multiple sports or activities.
