Substitute School Nurse
The Kingston K-14 School District is seeking a Substitute School Nurse. Applicants must hold a valid Missouri license to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN). If a suitable candidate is not available with an RN license, individuals who are Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs), or Certified Medical Technicians (CMTs) will also be considered.
Reporting To
Building Principal and under the supervision of the District Head Nurse in the absence of the Building Nurse.
Job Goal
Ensure the health and safety of students and staff while minimizing illness-related absences.
Responsibilities
Provide care for ill or injured students and staff; administer medications as ordered.
Conduct basic health screenings and assessments as needed.
Maintain accurate and confidential student health records, including medication logs and individual health plans.
Communicate with parents, staff, and healthcare providers regarding student health concerns or follow‑up care.
Monitor and manage communicable diseases, reporting as required by law.
Ensure the health office and supplies are organized and stocked.
Follow school board policies and state regulations regarding student health and safety.
Respond to emergencies and implement first aid or emergency care plans as needed.
Other Responsibilities (as needed)
Provide health guidance to students and staff.
Assist with special health programs, screenings, or school events.
Participate in disaster drills and support safe school environment initiatives.
Evaluation
Performance in this position will be evaluated annually in accordance with District policy on evaluation of support staff.
Salary
Registered Nurse (RN): $150 daily rate of pay
Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), or Certified Medical Technician (CMT): $100 daily rate of pay
