Overview
6th Grade Homeroom and Middle School Science and Social Studies Teacher at St. Bernadette Parish School is responsible for providing high‑quality, standards‑aligned instruction while fostering a faith‑filled, nurturing, and disciplined learning environment. The ideal candidate will foster a love of learning while supporting the spiritual and academic mission of Catholic education.
Reports to the Principal.
Key Responsibilities
Instruction & Curriculum: Plan and deliver engaging, standards‑aligned Science and Social Studies lessons for grades 6‑8, including lab‑based science activities.
Faith Integration: Integrate Catholic faith, Gospel values, and moral teachings into daily classroom activities and curriculum.
Classroom Management: Establish and maintain a structured, safe, positive, and respectful classroom environment conducive to learning and student growth.
Assessment & Differentiation: Differentiate instruction to meet diverse academic needs, using formative and summative assessments to drive instruction.
Communication & Collaboration: Maintain consistent and proactive communication with parents, students, administrators, and colleagues.
Community & Ministry: Participate in school liturgies, prayer, faculty meetings, professional development, and school events.
Technology Integration: Utilize technology and STEM practices to enhance instruction.
Homeroom/Duty: Perform school‑wide duties such as supervision of students (lunch, recess, hallways) and homeroom advising.
Supervise an elective class as determined by student interest and the teacher’s talents (e.g., yearbook, board games, student leadership, chess).
Required Qualifications & Skills
Credentials: Bachelor's degree, valid state teaching certification, and required Virtus/Safe Environment training.
Experience & Faith: Preferred experience in middle school education with a commitment to the Catholic mission.
Attributes: Passion for teaching, strong communication, teamwork, and technological proficiency.
Compensation
$50,373 - $76,690. Offered salary is based on internal equity, internal salary ranges, market data, applicant's skills and prior relevant experience, degrees, and certifications.
