The Manager of Mental Health Parity leads a team that guides, supports, and monitors cross‑functional operational areas to ensure compliance with the federal Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act (MHPAEA) as well as state mental health parity requirements. The role includes overseeing parity assessments, preparing compliant documentation, and collaborating with stakeholders across the organization to maintain a consistent parity infrastructure.
Responsibilities
Lead and manage a team of associates responsible for parity compliance evaluations, including mentorship, training, and performance oversight.
Maintain MHP training, communication, and education for associates and vendors.
Oversee preparation of responses to internal and external MHP inquiries, audits, and exams.
Facilitate all levels of MHP governance and oversight, maintain compliance processes, and conduct research of state and federal parity laws.
Provide guidance related to self‑insured clients’ health plan compliance with MHPAEA, federal regulations, and applicable state laws.
Collaborate with business areas to integrate MHP requirements into operational policies and maintain a current documentation repository.
Present findings and recommendations to stakeholders, including executives, and translate complex regulatory requirements into practical solutions.
Oversee drafting of comprehensive assessment reports, ensuring analytical rigor and regulatory interpretation.
Stay current on MHPAEA updates, federal guidance, and state‑level parity laws and adapt processes accordingly.
Participate in client meetings as a mental health parity subject matter expert and provide ongoing support for parity‑related inquiries.
Required Skills and Experiences
5+ years of related professional experience, including work, education, or military experience.
Leadership experience in a regulatory or consulting environment.
Experience in managed care with health plan compliance, regulatory affairs, quality, or parity regulation.
Deep knowledge of MHPAEA federal requirements and applicable state laws.
Ability to interpret and apply complex regulatory language to benefit designs.
Proven experience managing complex projects and delivering on time.
Excellent analytical, critical‑thinking, and written and verbal communication skills.
Strong organizational and cross‑functional collaboration skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, SharePoint, and Adobe Acrobat Pro.
High school diploma or equivalency and legal authorization to work in the U.S.
Preferred Skills and Experiences
Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Health Policy, Law, or related field.
Prior experience with self‑insured clients.
Process improvement and implementation of tools or systems that improve team efficiency.
Compensation and Benefits
Pay Range: $117,800.00 – $159,000.00 – $200,200.00 Annual
