ABOUT THE ROLE
Our client is seeking a Medical Secretary with a focus on surgical scheduling to support their orthopedic practice across West Palm Beach and Delray Beach. This is a 3-month contract position, Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM. The Medical Secretary will play a critical role in coordinating and scheduling surgical procedures—particularly orthopedic cases such as hip and shoulder replacements—while managing calendars, case bookings, and ensuring all pre- and post-operative requirements are met. The role serves as a key liaison between physicians, hospital staff, and patients, maintaining accurate documentation within EMR systems and facilitating clear, timely communication throughout the surgical process. The ideal candidate will have prior experience in surgical scheduling, preferably in orthopedics, strong organizational and communication skills, and proficiency with Epic or similar EMR platforms.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
Coordinate and schedule surgical procedures, focusing on orthopedic cases such as hip and shoulder replacements
Communicate regularly with physicians, hospital staff, and patients to facilitate scheduling and information flow
Manage calendars, case bookings, and pre- and post-operative scheduling for surgical cases
Upload and maintain patient documentation and results in the electronic medical record (EMR) system
Ensure all required documentation and surgical clearances are completed prior to procedures
Serve as a liaison between clinical and administrative teams to support seamless operations
WHAT YOU BRING
Prior experience in surgical scheduling (orthopedics strongly preferred)
Experience working with hospital systems and surgical workflows
Proficiency with Epic or similar EMR systems
Strong communication and organizational skills
Ability to manage high-volume scheduling and coordination tasks
Experience working with an older patient population preferred
