Financial Analyst II
HJF is seeking a Financial Analyst II who will serve as the central financial authority for travel operations, managing the end-to-end life cycle of travel orders and voucher auditing in strict accordance with the Joint Travel Regulation, ensuring the fiscal integrity of over 60 Graduate Medical Education programs through budget monitoring, bank reconciliations, and the maintenance of complex financial databases and reporting systems.

This position will be in support of the School of Medicine’s Graduate Medical Education program (SOM‑GME) located in Bethesda, MD.

Responsibilities

Develops and processes travel orders by computing mileage cost estimates, preparing passenger documentation, and providing entitlement guidance in accordance with applicable travel rules and regulations such as the Joint Travel Regulation (JTR) and military solicitation policies.

Serves as the reviewing official for travel vouchers in the Defense Travel System (DTS), balancing and reconciling claims while conducting quality reviews of documentation to ensure strict compliance with the JTR.

Manages the end-to-end processing of financial transactions by reviewing requests for regulatory compliance and coordinating with stakeholders for execution. This includes maintaining comprehensive program files and databases through the systematic collection of data from the group mailbox, managing diverse financial reports, and conducting targeted information searches to ensure data integrity.

Monitors daily, monthly, and year-end account balances while establishing and maintaining comprehensive budget files, including fiscal year expenditure spreadsheets and related correspondence.

Assists with bank reconciliations by reviewing monthly bank statements and researching certain unidentified transactions.

Delivers comprehensive customer service by serving as the primary point of contact for financial requests, responding to technical inquiries, and providing expert guidance to stakeholders.

May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the supervisor. This may include attendance of and participation in required training for role.

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Finance or related field.

0-2 years of experience required.

Detail oriented person.

Ability to work independently and organize tasks knowing time constraints.

Excellent interpersonal skills.

Ability to understand and use a computerized accounting package.

Knowledge of spreadsheet software.

Ability to structure and perform financial projections and analyses.

Ability to manage time efficiently and handle multiple tasks.

Ability to assimilate detailed information into the bigger picture.

Experience with Microsoft Suite package.

Ability to obtain and maintain a T1/Public Trust background check.

Work Environment

This position will take place primarily in an office setting.

Compensation

The annual salary range for this position is $61,000 - $94,000. Actual salary will be determined based on experience, education, etc.
