Job Description
The Marketing Specialist supports the execution of marketing efforts that connect individuals and families to the YMCA’s full spectrum of offerings—spanning whole‑person well‑being, mission, and youth & family programs. This role plays a critical part in bringing the YMCA’s mission to life by driving awareness, engagement, and participation across fitness, wellness, youth development, childcare, camps, and community impact initiatives, supporting the Marketing Directors of Whole Person Well‑being and Mission and Program Impact.
Blending campaign execution, content development, and performance tracking, this role ensures marketing efforts are cohesive, audience‑informed, and reflective of the YMCA as more than a place—it's where Greater Happens for individuals, families, and communities.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or a related field required
2–4 years of experience in marketing, communications, or a related role, with hands‑on involvement in campaign execution
Working knowledge of multi‑channel marketing, including digital, email, social, and content‑based campaigns
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to adapt messaging for different audiences
Solid organizational and project coordination skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
Basic experience analyzing campaign performance data and translating results into actionable insights
Ability to work collaboratively across teams and contribute positively in a fast‑paced, mission‑driven environment
All YMCA team members are expected to maintain a current and active status for all safety, risk, and programming certifications defined by the YMCA of Greater Charlotte.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience supporting integrated marketing campaigns in a nonprofit, community‑based, health, wellness, or mission‑driven organization
Familiarity with marketing automation, email platforms, content management systems, or social media management tools
Experience collaborating with creative teams and external vendors to develop marketing assets
Demonstrated interest in community engagement, well‑being, or social impact‑focused marketing
Essential Functions
Execute integrated, omni‑channel marketing campaigns and coordinate timelines, creative assets, and channel execution across email, web, social, paid media, and in‑center experiences; support key seasonal and enrollment cycles; ensure consistent execution aligned with brand standards and organizational priorities.
Translate program offerings into clear, compelling messaging that resonates with individuals seeking well‑being and families seeking connection and growth; capture and elevate stories that showcase impact; maintain a consistent, warm, and community‑centered brand voice.
Help optimize the full user journey—from awareness to registration and ongoing engagement—by aligning messaging and channel strategies with audience needs.
Work with the digital team to monitor and report on campaign performance, including engagement, lead generation, conversions, and program registrations; provide insights to improve campaign effectiveness and inform future planning; support CRM data integrity, list management, and tracking of key marketing funnels.
Partner with program leaders across wellness, youth development, and community initiatives to align marketing support with program goals; act as a bridge between marketing and business line teams to ensure accurate, timely, and effective communication; share campaign plans, updates, and results with key stakeholders.
Perform other duties and tasks as assigned by leadership.
