Correctional Officer (020925) - Agency Search Team, Columbia (RICHLAND)

Responsibilities
Conduct routine, unannounced, and/or pre-scheduled searches and shakedowns of inmates, staff, and visitors within the confines of correctional institution living areas or grounds.
Assist the Lieutenant and above in administering the operation of the Agency Search Team.
Be knowledgeable of the logging and accountability process of contraband items i.e. chain of custody and disciplinary procedures.
Ensure that on a weekly basis, completed leave and attendance is submitted.
Be available for recall in emergency and non-emergency situations that require additional personnel.
Show ability to be flexible with schedule in order to work various time frames.
Remain thoroughly familiar with all policies governing contraband control, searches, property, visitation, etc.
Perform job related duties as directed by your supervisor.
Qualifications
U.S. Citizen.
18 and over.
High school diploma or GED.
Valid driver's license.
Tattoos: Must not be offensive and/or gang related or visibly located on the face or head. Tattoos on the neck will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
Cannot have been convicted of a crime with a maximum allowable sentence of one year or more, or a fine of $1,000.
Must pass a physical exam administered by SCDC.
Must successfully complete the Correctional Officer Basic Certification Course within first six months of placement into the position.
