
Correctional Officer (020925) - Agency Search Team, Columbia (RICHLAND)

Job Responsibilities
Conduct routine, unannounced, and/or pre‑scheduled searches and shakedowns of inmates, staff, and visitors within the confines of correctional institution living areas or grounds.
Assist the Lieutenant and above in administering the operation of the Agency Search Team.
Be knowledgeable of the logging and accountability process of contraband items (chain of custody and disciplinary procedures).
Ensure that, on a weekly basis, completed leave and attendance is submitted.
Be available for recall in emergency and non‑emergency situations that require additional personnel.
Maintain flexibility with schedule to work various time frames.
Remain thoroughly familiar with all policies governing contraband control, searches, property, visitation, etc.
Perform job‑related duties as directed by your supervisor.
Minimum and Additional Requirements
U.S. Citizen.
18 years of age or older.
High school diploma or GED.
Valid driver’s license.
Tattoos: Must not be offensive or gang related, nor visibly located on the face or head. Neck tattoos will be evaluated on a case‑by‑case basis.
No conviction with a maximum allowable sentence of one year or more, or a fine of $1,000.
Pass a physical exam administered by SCDC.
Successfully complete the Correctional Officer Basic Certification Course within the first six months of placement into the position.
