Claims Property Field Catastrophe (CAT) Representative (remote)

Summary
The role is responsible for investigating, evaluating, and negotiating the settlement of assigned property claims to serve the customer and ensure quality file handling.

Responsibilities

Respond to catastrophe deployment directives on short notice, including weekends.

Travel to catastrophe areas to evaluate, negotiate, and settle personal and commercial property claims.

Perform onsite and virtual inspections of damages, resolve coverage and damage issues, and prepare complete repair estimates.

Document all claim activity to support the claim file, working with SIU and sub‑rogation partners.

Create a high level of policyholder satisfaction by complying with established service standards.

Explain coverage of loss, assist policyholders with itemization of damages, emergency repairs, and additional living arrangements.

Coordinate vendor services such as contractors, emergency repair, cleaning services, and experts.

Respond to inquiries from policyholders, agents, internal partners, and others.

Contribute to a positive work environment by promoting accountability, diversity and inclusion, flexibility, continuous improvement, collaboration, creativity, and fun.

Mentor members of the Inside and Field Property Team and the Expandable CAT Team.

Provide assistance with complex losses during non‑catastrophe periods, including both personal and commercial lines claims.

Offer technical support to catastrophe claims team members concerning property claim handling, time management, and skill development.

Operate and maintain the company vehicle.

Access and inspect all areas of a building or structure, including climbing a ladder, walking on roofs, and entering tight spaces; lift up to 40 lbs.

Physical demands require extensive overnight travel (approximately 50% of time). Must be located in the Cleveland, Ohio area.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent plus 3 years of field property claims handling experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience; bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.

Strong communication and organization skills with proficiency in personal computer use.

Proficiency in property estimating and damage assessment.

Demonstrated ability to interact professionally with customers and agents.

Valid driver’s license and good driving record.

Ability to travel on immediate notice.

State‑specific adjuster’s license may be required.

Must be located in Cleveland, Ohio or surrounding area.
